In addition to the schedule of events for the Conference weekend, Team Marine Parents™ invites you to participate in a refreshing and guaranteed adventurous Saturday morning activity. Grab your tennis shoes and favorite USMC shirt and suit up, we are going on a 2 mile run with the Marines!
Team Marine Parents™ is not just for athletes! We want everyone to be able to join in the fun no matter what fitness level you are at. We will have a shorter walking route planned for those who prefer a slower pace.

In 2007, the Recruiting Office commanding officer and his Marines led us in some light PT to get the runners warmed up. They also taught us how to get into formation and move correctly during our easy paced run. Listening to the footsteps and the deep voiced Marines as they called out some very memorable cadence songs, as well as seeing steam rising off the runners bodies when we stopped to enjoy the sunrise beneath the St. Louis Arch was quite a treat.

The following year, we ran amongst the cherry blossoms in the National Mall in Washington, DC and one brave soul even cried out "I want my mommy" when the big drill instructor hopped on the bus and shouted, "Get Off My Bus!" Lance Corporal Joe Lopez, who was in a wheelchair at the 2007 conference, used a cane to walk the entire course. It was truly incredible and inspiring.
This year, we'll be kicking off Team Marine Parents 2010 with a run/walk down historic Canal Street and past the legendary sites of downtown New Orleans. Please join us for a fun and inspirational way to bring in the 2010 fundraising year for Team Marine Parents!
We have a private sponsor that will donate $10 for every person who crosses the finish line. Proceeds from this event will benefit Purple Heart Family Support™, an outreach program of Marine Parents. The Team Marine Parents Kickoff has raised up to $550 at past conferences. Let's see if we can break that record!
Upon return to the conference hotel after completing the 2-mile run, the Team will be recognized and cheered by the conference general assembly. A parent's version of the "Warrior's Breakfast" will be had by all.

Important Notes:
*Plan ahead for comfort during the Team Marine Parents™ event. Bring whatever running/walking shoes and clothing you are most comfortable in and perhaps pack some waterproof gear in case of rain.
