Welcome Marine Corps families, parents, spouses, friends and Marines! We're thrilled to bring you this years Annual Marine Parents conference and excited to be bringing top speakers and sessions to you for our fifth conference in four years.

The 5th Marine Parents conference will be held in San Diego, California, April 17-19, 2009 at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Hotel Mission Valley. The pre-conference will be held April 17, 2009.

This will certainly be our best-ever conference, with Captain Dale Dye (author of Platoon and actor in many highly acclaimed movies including Platoon and Saving Private Ryan) as our keynote speaker. Gunny Popaditch, author and Purple Heart Marine will be our speaker Friday night. Aaron Mankin, Purple Heart Marine will be speaking on Sunday morning at the close of the conference.

The breakout sessions on Saturday will include two tracks. Track A will focus on Active Duty, Training and Deployments while Track B will focus on Combat Recovery and PTSD with Dr. Bridget Cantrell and Colonel Jay Kopelman. Colonel Kopelman will also speak during the benefit dinner Saturday evening.

Colonel Simcock will lead the way as a presenter for our families to learn about the famous Mojave Viper training that takes place in the high desert near Twentynine Palms, California. We'll be bringing in Family Readiness Officers to talk about the new Marine Family Readiness and MCT (Mass Communication Tool) put in place by the Marine Corps.

San Diego is rich in Marine Corps history and is an extraordinary Place to Connect & Share™ with other Marine Corps families. Included in the pre-conference which begins with a continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning, our chartered busses on Friday will take you on a tour of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The $40, 6-hour tour includes chartered bus transportation, lunch, and time to mingle with other Marine Families.

We're working on plans to hold the 3rd Annual Team Marine Parents™ kickoff at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on Saturday morning, April 18.

General Session topics and speakers on Saturday will include several breakout sessions on Marine Corps topics including training, deployment, and military life. Dr. Bridget Cantrell will hold sessions throughout the day on Traumatic Stress Injury and Warrior Transitioning.

There will be plenty of opportunities for networking with one another and meeting guests, authors, speakers, Marines and other Marine Corps family members. The Authors' Hall on Saturday will give you an opportunity to purchase* books and have the authors personally sign your copy.

We hope you'll join us for what is sure to be a memorable conference and an incredible visit to San Diego!
